12 Days Char Dham Yatra – Day-by-Day Itinerary
Kathmandu to Haridwar (240 KM / 5–6 Hrs from Delhi & 365 KM / 7–8 Hrs from Dhangadhi) – Flight & Road Options to Reach Delhi & Dhangadhi
Begin your journey with multiple travel options: take a flight from Kathmandu to Delhi and drive to Haridwar (240 km / 5–6 hours), or fly to Dhangadhi and continue by road via Gaddachauki border to reach Haridwar (365 km / 7–8 hours). Comfortable AC bus services are also available for a smooth and budget-friendly transfer to Delhi or Mahendranagar (Gaddachauki Boarder).
Day 2: Haridwar to Barkot (177 Km / 5-6 Hrs)
After breakfast, drive towards Barkot via the scenic hill route passing through Mussoorie and Vikas Nagar. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views during the journey. Dinner and overnight stay at Barkot.
Day 3: Barkot to Yamunotri to Barkot (36 Km Drive & 6 Km Trek One Way)
Early morning drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti, the starting point of the trek. Begin the 6 km trek to Yamunotri (by walk, pony, or doli at your own cost). Take a holy dip in Jamunabai Kund and perform darshan of Yamunotri Temple. Pilgrims also cook rice in the Tapt Kund hot spring as prasad and offer pooja at Divya Shila. Trek back to Jankichatti and drive to Barkot for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Barkot to Uttarkashi (82 Km / 3-4 Hrs)
Drive to Uttarkashi, a spiritual town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Visit the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Uttarkashi is often referred to as “Saumya Varanasi”. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.
Day 5: Uttarkashi to Gangotri to Uttarkashi (100 Km / 4-5 Hrs Each Way)
Early morning drive to Gangotri, the origin place of the holy River Ganga. En route, take a holy dip at the Gangnani Hot Spring and pass through the beautiful Harsil Valley. Perform darshan at Gangotri Temple, spend time near the river, and return to Uttarkashi for the night.
Day 6: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi / Phata (220 Km / 7-8 Hrs)
Proceed towards Guptkashi / Phata, located near the Kedarnath region. The journey passes through picturesque mountain roads alongside the Mandakini River. Overnight stay at Guptkashi / Phata.
Day 7: Guptkashi / Phata to Kedarnath (30 Km Drive / 20 Km Trek One Way)
Drive to Sonprayag, then take a local jeep to Gaurikund (direct payment). Begin the 20 km trek to Kedarnath Temple, or choose a helicopter service at an additional cost (subject to availability). Attend the evening aarti and stay overnight at a Kedarnath Guest House on a sharing basis.
Day 8: Kedarnath to Guptkashi / Phata
Attend early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, seeking blessings at the Jyotirlinga. Trek back to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi / Phata for dinner and rest.
Day 9: Guptkashi / Phata to Joshimath to Badrinath (185 Km / 7-8 Hrs)
Drive towards Badrinath via Joshimath. En route, visit Shankaracharya Math and Narsingh Temple. Continue to Badrinath for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 10: Badrinath to Rudraprayag (154 Km / 6-7 Hrs)
Morning darshan of Lord Vishnu at the sacred Badrinath Temple. Drive towards Rudraprayag, witnessing the famous river confluences including Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag, and Karnaprayag along the way. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag.
Day 11: Rudraprayag to Devprayag to Rishikesh (135 Km / 4-5 Hrs)
Drive towards Rishikesh, visiting the sacred Devprayag Sangam (confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers) en route. Check in at Rishikesh and enjoy local sightseeing, including Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and Triveni Ghat. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.
Day 12: Rishikesh to Dhangadhi (390 KM / 7–8 Hrs) | Rishikesh to Delhi (255 KM / 5–6 Hrs) – Return Flight & Road Options from Dhangadhi/Mahendranagar & Delhi
Wrap up your journey with convenient return options: drive from Rishikesh to Dhangadhi/Mahendranagar via Gaddachauki border (approx. 390 km / 7–8 hours) and take a flight back to Kathmandu, or travel to Delhi (approx. 255 km / 5–6 hours) for your return flight.
